An improvised comedy concert!

SEPTEMBER 9

SEPTEMBER 10

September 9 & 10 at 7:30 PM

Live from International Waters… is a fully immersive, character-driven improvised comedy concert, starring Liz Butler and Ben Jardine as three separate, iconic (though entirely made up) music duos. The show takes place on a cruise ship, right after the buffet dinner, where audiences are treated to a retirement party for the very ship that they’re on. The entertainment? Some of the most famous music acts to have ever graced the decks of the ship. Every song is made up from audience suggestions and the bantering between Butler and Jardine, who stick to their characters no matter what.

There’s Hollywood, Florida’s glamorous Spitz & Crumple (a lounge music act in the style of Liza Minelli or Captain & Tennille). There’s Brothers & Sons, a family band from Handsome, Minnesota, who echo Crosby, Stills, & Nash, but with more facial hair. And then there are the elusive avant-garde stylings of Wööd, a synth-wave arthouse band from the heart of New York City’s underground scene (though no one is quite sure where they’re from).

Live from International Waters… will be a treat for audiences and performers alike. The show is fully immersive, and starts as soon as the audience walks in. There will be a live band, made up of some of the Berkshires’ finest musicians. You won’t want to miss it!

Liz Butler is a joy-fueled, curious-minded, multi-disciplinary artist, improvisor, singer, director and performer from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Liz trained as an opera singer before falling in love with devised theatre, improvisation and clowning. Liz holds a Theatre degree from the University of Denver as well as over 15 years of improv and theatre experience. She co-founded the Yellow Cat Collective, a company dedicated to performance work with femenist themes. She has lived in New Zealand for the last three years, where she taught improv workshops at the NZ Improv Festival and elementary schools around the country. The magic of collaboration drives her work and career, and she loves facilitating workshops that allow others to have their own personal and creative revelations. @lizzbutts on Instagram

Ben loves music of all shapes and sizes, and has been playing guitar in a serious and not-so-serious capacity since he was 16. He has a degree in Creative Writing from Pitzer College, where he was a creative producer for a non-profit music and arts festival. His written work has appeared in various publications in the US and New Zealand, including magazines and poetry books. With his marketing background, Ben has helped produce sold out comedy and theatre shows in both countries that he calls home. He loves telling stories through long-form improv and music, via characters that entertain and captivate audiences. @thebentalist on Instagram
