As the matriarch of this twisted family says to her unhappy daughter, “Some people say you carry all that stuff with you wherever you go… it’s your baggage until you unpack it.  But I am happy to say that I am not one of those people. I believe that you can leave it all behind and turn yourself into whatever you want!”

Through monologues and playing multiple parts, Tom Truss becomes the Johnsons, a slightly wacky and tragic family, as they unpack moments of their lives.

Tom Truss is a performing artist and educator who has had a thirty year career as a dancer, actor, choreographer and director.  He has created with and taught all ages and abilities from children, firefighters and inmates to teens, older adults, and professional actors and dancers. He has choreographed, directed and devised dozens of shows, and has taught and performed around the world as well as locally at Flying Cloud Institute, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and MCLA.  Currently he teaches at Pulse Studios in Housatonic and is working on an evening length dance theatre piece called ReWritten about the often overlooked intimate relationship between Herman Melville and Nathanial Hawthorne.  You can catch ReWritten at Herman Melville’s home in July. Tom lives in Great Barrington and has an MFA in dance, an MFA in Acting, a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance and is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique.  His passion is physical theatre and igniting and uniting people’s imagination and intellect.
