West Stockbridge, MA – Old friends, Cady Huffman (Tony Award winning actress for The Producers) and Mary Ann McSweeney (award winning jazz Bassist, who recently made her onstage Broadway debut in Girl From the North Country) come together in It Was A Very Good Year to investigate music during a pandemic. Combining voice with bass, and whatever else strikes their fancy, the duo will pirouette from Peggy Lee to Jimi Hendrix, with a promise that nothing is off-limits!
Cady Huffman is perhaps best known for her Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winning performance as “Ulla” in The Producers on Broadway opposite Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. This led to her unforgettable recurring role on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm where she almost became Larry David’s 10th anniversary present. This success also brought her to the Food Network’s kitchen stadium where she judged for 10 consecutive seasons on Iron Chef America.
McSweeney has played with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Joanne Brackeen and Lee Konitz, Gil Goldstein and Bucky Pizzarelli, and played for famous conductors, Leonard Bernstein, Lalo Schifrin, and John Williams. She has performed with Renee Rosness, Vic Juris, Ken Peplowski, Dennis Mackrel, Lewis Nash and Larry Goldings. Mary Ann has also performed with the Maiden Voyage and Diva Big Bands and performed with her quintet at the Sexial Jazz Festival in Portugal and the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center.
